The next trip to Senegal is planned for
1,2009 with flexible scheduling!
Come for one, two, or three weeks of the workshop.
We have a special schedule  planned that will work for
people on a school vacation calendar

One week: $1000

(Prices include meals, lodging, bottled water, and admission to scheduled museum
visits.
Prices do not include airfare and you will want to bring money for souvenir
shopping, tips, snacks, soda/juice, and an occasional restaurant or unplanned outing)

You will meet and study with several different master teachers during your trip.
Workshops will include Senegalese, Malian, and Guinean style dance and drum.
Moustapha will be honored to introduce you to some of his finest teachers, fellow
performers, and good friends.

All levels are welcome. Instructors will be sure to provide challenge for experienced
drummers and dancers while supporting beginners in learning the basics.

You will stay in a rented house in M'bour. This will be a real taste of Africa, providing
you with a deeper and more authentic understanding of African life than you would get
from an air conditioned hotel room.  We will provide you with a list of items to bring
for your own comfort, including a sleeping bag and mosquito netting. You can expect
to feel safe and welcome everywhere you go with Moustapha. His family and friends
will be working to prepare for your visit and to make sure you are as comfortable as
possible.

This trip is designed for flexible people with a spirit of adventure and sincere desire
to see the real Senegal. Africa can be a challenging place.  But, you can be sure that
you will feel welcome, that you will learn a lot and that Moustapha will be working hard
to make your trip a safe, pleasant experience that you will never forget.

Moustapha provides a schedule that is rich in varied experiences, but also leaves time
to relax and visit with new friends.

The Drum and Dance Workshop will run Monday through Friday each week. We will
study from 9:00am -12:00pm and from 3:00 -6:00pm. There will be time in the
afternoon to rest, swim, or visit with new friends.  Moustapha will arrange for you to
watch a rehearsal of professional dance and drum company Bougarabou at some
point during the workshop. On the weekends Moustapha has planned some visits:
Saturday, December 11: Travel to Goree Island, which was one of the major
ports of the African slave trade. Take the ferry from Dakar.
Sunday, December 12: Visit the markets in M'bour for souvenir shopping and
visit "Diembe Parc", an area of M'bour where the drum makers work.
Saturday, December18: Take a trip to Lac Rose, known for its pink water.
Saturday night will be the final farewell party!
